Switching on/off
The tripmeter is ready for use once the power is switched on (inserting fuse, switching on heb, activating additional switch). The tripmeter does not have a power switch.
In non-measuring positions, when there is no voltage on the yellow wire (ignition switch), the tripmeter blanking the screen after 1 minute.
Due to the permanent memory of the measurements, which continues to operate even after the power is switched off, switching on the tripmeter can result in two independent scenarios:
Starting measurements after turning on the power
When the power is switched on, the tripmeter will automatically start measuring.
There are two possible scenarios:
- a tripmeter that was switched off during measurement will continue the measurement from the stored values
- a tripmeter that was switched off during the start-up screen will start measuring from zero values
Starting measurement from the start screen

Calling up the start screen
The start screen of the H-51 tripmeter is a position in which no measurements are taken. The tripmeter screen shows 4 horizontal lines. From this position it is possible to go to the tripmeter menu (see chapter |H-51| Configuration), to the calibration menu: Measurement, Entering, Auto-calibration. In the start screen position you can update the tripmeter function options. To start measurements, press F briefly.

Updating options
To update the options of the H-51 tripmeter, you must first have the current software version. An option update can then be installed, which is provided by the manufacturer. Copy the options file to a memory stick. We recommend that there is no other data on the memory stick and the formatting is done in the FAT32 file system with default allocation settings, etc.
- bring the tripmeter to the position of the start screen
- insert memory stick
- wait for File confirmation ok.
Firmware update
A firmware update is the process of updating the software. You can obtain the latest software versions from the manufacturer. Updating the software does not change the purchased options. The firmware is secured by encryption.
Save the firmware file on a pendrive under the name firmware.bin
To update the software:
- press MENU for a few seconds to bring the tripmeter to the start screen position
- when you start from the start screen, skip step 1
- switch off the power supply to the tripmeter
- Insert the memory stick into the USB connector of the tripmeter
- switch on the power supply of the tripmeter
- 2 short beeps and another 4 short beeps will confirm the detection of a new version of the program (you only receive 4 short beeps and the tripmeter starts? See |H-51| FAQ)
- The program is being updated
- wait for the tripmeter to turn on (max. 30 seconds) which will be signaled by 4 short beeps
